The 2010 Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta

SWBB and LoneStar Birds Combined Rally

This is a typical SWBB and LoneStar Birds Rally meaning that it is a laid

back and easy going gathering of approximately 35 Birds and Bird Owners.

There is a loose agenda, which may have to be modified due to weather,

but if at all possible we will stick with it. The weather in Albuquerque can

be quite chilly in the night and early mornings and then warm in mid-day.

Come prepared.

If anyone has a pop-up shade canopy and extra tables, please bring them, as this will help us set up a community area.  Also bring extra chairs. All Breakfasts and Lunches will be on your own unless Jim/Linda Marsh are making pancakes one morning ??

The balloon activities are basically early in the morning and then in the evening. We will be camped on a hill overlooking a huge field where 10,000 people come to see the balloons. Where we are, we do not have to be in these crowds to see the show. You also have to plan on avoiding the crowds if you are going to go anywhere in the city, especially during heavy traffic times.

We will be Dry Camping, so be sure your batteries, chargers and generator are in good shape.  Also if your coach has

a generator which has a low exhaust pipe, a Gen-Turi or similar stack extension to route exhaust gas over the top of

your coach is a big plus for you and your nearby neighbor. There will be sewer pump trucks and fresh water trucks

available if anyone needs them.

Albuquerque is a city of 500,000 plus at an elevation of 5,300 ft. It was founded in 1706 which makes it one of the

nation’s oldest communities. A 2.7 mile aerial tram is 5 miles NE of the city and in 20 minutes will take you to 10,378 ft

high Sandia Peak for a breathtaking view! The city is the heart of Indian Pueblo country.

We plan to meet on Tuesday, October 5 at a nearby Palisades RV Park so we can drive to the balloon park as a group.

This allows us to park together in the balloon park. Bring your receipt/paperwork that was mailed to you and have it

ready for Wednesday morning check-in at VIP East #1.

So we can keep track on how many plan to meet at Palisades RV Park,

or if you have alternate arrival plans,

please use the email form above to let us know.

If you have any questions,

use the contact form above or refer to the email message listing Rick, Fred, and John's contact information.
